5 years ahead, but 5 more years to get there: iPhone
iPhone maybe 5 years ahead of other cell phones but it sure seems like it will be 5 years until GEEKS will see the device with their requested functionalities.

Apple is a great innovative company, with many ideas focused on simplistic designs. I believe they are trying very hard to get into the cell phone market while getting more of the “day to day people†to use a cell phone at a higher level (and acquire a portion of market share, naturally $$$). Listen to Steve Job’s keynote introduction of the iPhone; it is very simple to interrupt the keynote, it is a “what you see is what you get†device; it is that simple, is that such a bad thing? Will that be great for most? Absolutely! Will the “GEEK†enjoy this? Maybe not, only because he/she wants the phone to do more with current obscure features they know are available. Once their mom has one they will want one too regardless of what it can’t do. Again, the “day to day user†will find this phone very easy to use and much more useful than any current model.
Think of this: iPod did not create the MP3 player, nor does it have the vast features of other players.
The implementation to the marketplace will put the iPhone 5 years ahead of others regardless of any lack of functionality we GEEKS feel towards it. This is all because more day to day people will be doing it.
